Kay Lopata Fine Art has been a purveyor of fine European and
American prints since 1979 and is a member of the International
Fine Print Dealers Association. We regularly participate in
print fairs in cities across the United States and maintain a
virtual catalogue with a frequently updated website.
Our goal is to present collectors at all stages of expertise with a well-chosen selection of quality prints by both major and lesser-known artists. For your convenience, we have selected highlights of our collection and presented them in four galleries. Admirers of the Belle Epoque are invited to view a selection of elegant etchings, drypoints, lithographs and aquatints by Chahine, Helleu, Lobel Riche, Tissot and Whistler. More colorful fin-de-siècle fare may be found in our presentation of wonderful original menus. These charming examples of applied arts are both affordable and highly collectable. The brilliant color of Pochoir is exemplified in our collection of works by Edouard Benito, Sonia Delaunay, Georges Lepape, and the popular caricaturist Sem. Briefly, pochoir printing is a stencil technique of coloration. Each color field has its own stencil cut from a thin sheet of metal or cardboard. The gouache paint is then applied by hand, using a brush. Pochoir is characterized by a remarkable depth of color. The pochoir technique was popular in France from the 1890's until the late 1930's when the downturn in the luxury market made this labor- and material- intensive process prohibitively expensive. The examples presented here cover the spectrum from florid Art Nouveau through the geometry of Art Deco. We also offer a special gallery devoted to prints of dogs and animals. Here you will find delightful color and black and white etchings by such renowned dog and animal artists as Morgan Dennis, Marguerite Kirmse, Diana Thorne and Henry Wilkenson. Please take a moment to visit a gallery and see what small treasures await. We welcome all enquiries and would be pleased to provide more information on any piece illustrated or institute a search for a special item. We are always interested in purchasing both individual pieces and groups of works for sale. TERMS & CONDITIONS |
